Created as commercial project in 2013, FoundationDB has been acquired by Apple in March 2015 and was withdrawn from the market. As a consequence, the product was removed from the DB-Engines ranking. In April 2018, Apple open-sourced FoundationDB and it therefore reappears in the ranking.
Description | Wide-column store based on ideas of BigTable and DynamoDB Optimized for write access | Ordered key-value store. Core features are complimented by layers. | Hawkular metrics is the metric storage of the Red Hat sponsored Hawkular monitoring system. It is based on Cassandra. | NuoDB is a webscale distributed database that supports SQL and ACID transactions | Popular in-memory data platform used as a cache, message broker, and database that can be deployed on-premises, across clouds, and hybrid environments Redis focuses on performance so most of its design decisions prioritize high performance and very low latencies.
Primary database model | Wide column store | Document store supported via specific layer Key-value store Relational DBMS supported via specific SQL-layer | Time Series DBMS | Relational DBMS | Key-value store Multiple data types and a rich set of operations, as well as configurable data expiration, eviction and persistence
Secondary database models | Vector DBMS starting with release V5 | Document store with RedisJSON Graph DBMS with RedisGraph Spatial DBMS Search engine with RediSearch Time Series DBMS with RedisTimeSeries Vector DBMS
