Created as commercial project in 2013, FoundationDB has been acquired by Apple in March 2015 and was withdrawn from the market. As a consequence, the product was removed from the DB-Engines ranking. In April 2018, Apple open-sourced FoundationDB and it therefore reappears in the ranking.
Description | A widely adopted Java cache with tiered storage options | Ordered key-value store. Core features are complimented by layers. | One of the most popular document stores available both as a fully managed cloud service and for deployment on self-managed infrastructure | Open-source Time Series DBMS and monitoring system | Popular in-memory data platform used as a cache, message broker, and database that can be deployed on-premises, across clouds, and hybrid environments Redis focuses on performance so most of its design decisions prioritize high performance and very low latencies.
Primary database model | Key-value store | Document store supported via specific layer Key-value store Relational DBMS supported via specific SQL-layer | Document store | Time Series DBMS | Key-value store Multiple data types and a rich set of operations, as well as configurable data expiration, eviction and persistence
