Created as commercial project in 2013, FoundationDB has been acquired by Apple in March 2015 and was withdrawn from the market. As a consequence, the product was removed from the DB-Engines ranking. In April 2018, Apple open-sourced FoundationDB and it therefore reappears in the ranking.
Description | Ordered key-value store. Core features are complimented by layers. | Popular in-memory data platform used as a cache, message broker, and database that can be deployed on-premises, across clouds, and hybrid environments Redis focuses on performance so most of its design decisions prioritize high performance and very low latencies. | Cassandra and DynamoDB compatible wide column store | A key-value store forked from RocksDB with advanced compression algorithms. It can be used standalone or as a storage engine for MySQL and MongoDB | TypeDB provides developers with an expressive, customizable type system to manage their data using an award-winning query language, TypeQL, while building on a high-performance, distributed architecture.
Primary database model | Document store supported via specific layer Key-value store Relational DBMS supported via specific SQL-layer | Key-value store Multiple data types and a rich set of operations, as well as configurable data expiration, eviction and persistence | Wide column store | Key-value store | Graph DBMS The type-theoretic data model of TypeDB subsumes the graph database model. Object oriented DBMS The data model of TypeDB comprises object-oriented features such as class inheritance and interfaces. Relational DBMS The type-theoretic data model of TypeDB subsumes the relational database model.
Secondary database models | Document store with RedisJSON Graph DBMS with RedisGraph Spatial DBMS Search engine with RediSearch Time Series DBMS with RedisTimeSeries Vector DBMS | Key-value store
