Created as commercial project in 2013, FoundationDB has been acquired by Apple in March 2015 and was withdrawn from the market. As a consequence, the product was removed from the DB-Engines ranking. In April 2018, Apple open-sourced FoundationDB and it therefore reappears in the ranking.
Description | An in-memory DBMS combining transactional and analytical processing to handle the aggregation of ever-changing data. | Ordered key-value store. Core features are complimented by layers. | Full-featured RDBMS with a small footprint, either embedded into a Java application or used as a database server. | Common in IBM host environments, 2 different versions for host and Windows/Linux | A lightweight, in-memory graph engine that serves as a reference implementation of the TinkerPop3 API
Primary database model | Object oriented DBMS | Document store supported via specific layer Key-value store Relational DBMS supported via specific SQL-layer | Relational DBMS | Relational DBMS Since Version 10.5 support for JSON/BSON documents compatible with MongoDB | Graph DBMS
Secondary database models | Spatial DBMS | Document store RDF store in Db2 LUW (Linux, Unix, Windows) Spatial DBMS with Db2 Spatial Extender
