Historical trends of DB-Engines popularity ranking

Tags: DB-Engines Ranking

Sometimes, the changes of popularity over time is more interesting than the absolute values. Therefore, we start presenting historical data of our DB-Engines ranking.

We are excited to announce this new feature, which you can find by clicking on the chart icon in the upper right hand side corner of the ranking pages. See for example the historical trend of the overall ranking.

You can also see historical trends for a DBMS sub-category, e.g. document stores. Like our ranking reports, the historical trend reports are updated monthly.

To be honest, our website is relatively young, therefore the amount of historical data we can show right now is modest. Nevertheless, we decided to go online with that feature, because we start seeing interesting trends. Furthermore, the significance of the data will improve every month.

We believe that this new report adds an interesting dimension to our popularity measurements, and we hope you enjoy it.
