Specific characteristics
Machbase is a time series database which processes large volumes of log/machine data, generated from Smart Factory. It performs real-time data analysis. This columnar database is optimized for fast time series data entry, analysis and search technology in real-time. It processes various log data operations (i.e. input, change, delete, read, etc.) without conflicting one another. Therefore, even when hundreds of thousands of data are entered and some parts are deleted in real time, the SELECT operation can speed up statistical operations on millions of records.
Overcoming the limits of Machbase Standard Edition, Machbase Enterprise Edition has a structure where several processes reside in a general-purpose server. The Multi-Node Cluster Edition has dedicated multiple processes to analyze large amounts of data. It is scalable to ensure the high-availability in order to store and analyze large amounts of data

Real-time data processing
Machbase processes (i.e. collecting, storing, indexing, analyzing and visualizing the massive amount of log data) in real-time. Machbase provides the continuous stream of entering and analyzing data with a short real-time interval. This real-time DBMS has been developed to process log/machine data from Smart Factory. 

Simple Structure for data processing and installation. 
In order to reduce complexity and incompatibility, whenever new big data solutions are introduced to existing systems, Machbase does not require three to five tiers of complex structures to build a database management system for collecting, storing, indexing, analyzing and visualizing data. This time-series DBMS has a simple, out-of-box type of installation process. Engineers can start collecting, storing, indexing, analyzing and visualizing their massive amount of log data in real-time just by installing and setting Machbase.

High Availability 
MACHBASE Enterprise Edition distributes the data and collects the calculated results from distributed query execution. High Availability provides reliable data processing utilization with a minimum amount of down-time. In other words, Machbase ensures that data is always available even if any of data processing procedures fails. 

High Scalability 
Data storage can be distributed and parallel analysis can be performed on the distributed data. Hence data process performance increases as the cluster grows. This multi-cluster Edition has no limit of data processing as you add more nodes.
Interactive Utilities to maximize data processing performance
When data is entered into the log table through Broker, it is distributed to all warehouses. (The data is not stored in the Broker that performs the input.) The Coordinator determines the database size of each warehouse, and the Broker distributes the data on the basis. However, if data is entered directly into the log table via Warehouse, it is stored only in the corresponding warehouse. You can choose this method if you want to avoid the performance degradation due to distributed algorithm and network bottlenecks.
Typical application scenarios
Distributed Query
In Machbase Enterprise Edition, a broker node, which is responsible for the client connection creates query execution plans. A warehouse node passes these query execution plans to a warehouse. The distributed query is executed on the data of this warehouse. The broker transmits the results from the warehouse to the client. Since the actual query execution is executed in the warehouse node, the performance can be increased by distributed execution if the number of nodes increases.

High Data Ingestion
The data transferred from the client is entered through the broker to warehouse. Since the warehouse can be configured with several nodes, the input performance improves in proportion to the increase of the warehouse. As the number of nodes increases, the amount of data processing increases. 

Conventional SQL Syntax Support
Machbase supports standard SQL syntax, including JOIN, GROUP BY, ORDER BY and HAVING clause. Subqueries (including inline view) and various SQL standard functions can be used in Machbase. It also supports analysis of keywords and patterns. Users can directly use the search commands in SQL syntax without learning new language. 

Real-time Indexing 
Machbase has the architecture to index data in near real-time while large volumes of data are inserted per second. This is the crucial feature for time series data analysis as it lays the ground for searching large volumes of data per second.
